Cod à Brás recipe, one of the classics of Portugal

Today we present a the simplest recipe, perfect for tonight if you don’t know what to cook. Cod à Brás, watchword of Portuguese gastronomy, it seems like a unique dish to end the day accompanied by a green salad. For this reason, we take the steps so that tonight your dinner enjoys an international flavor. Take note!

Prepare these ingredients

It won’t take you half an hour to make this dish come true, for which you will need salted cod already flaked, six large eggs, four potatoes, black olives, an onion, salt, olive oil, chopped fresh parsley and a little garlic powder. All this for four people.

The first thing you will do is desalt the cod (although you can buy it ready for this recipe). To do this, you must pass it through cold water for about 10 minutes and leave it fully covered with water for about 3 hours. Of course, do not forget to change the water after an hour and a half of soaking and leave the container in the fridge so that the process is done correctly.

Once the cod is ready in very small pieces, drain all the water and reserve it in a bowl, but not before check that there are no skin remnants or thorns that can be dangerous. Next, chop the onion very finely and fry it in a pan with oil, being careful not to burn it. When it has a golden hue, add the cod and Stir well to mix both ingredients. Now is the time to add the salt, but with measure since in itself this fish is very tasty.

When finished, put everything in a container and, in that same pan, fry the potatoes that you previously grated with a mandolin. Keep in mind that being very thin they will be done immediately, so give you just enough time to beat the eggs in a bowl and wait for the potatoes to be ready. Transfer them to a bowl with absorbent paper to remove excess fat.

Keep using that same pan and now add all the preparations: the cod with the sauce, the beaten egg and the potatoes. Mix well and let it cook for a couple of minutes over low heat. Finally, place everything on a plate and decorate with the olives cut in half, a little garlic powder and sprinkled parsley. Ready to travel to Portugal, at least with a sense of taste!
