Are you involved with recycling? Quick guide to separate garbage

You can’t change the world but yeah do your bit to help the environment. If we all did something as simple as separating the garbage at home, we would achieve much more than you imagine.

For example, did you know that a plastic bottle takes more than 400 years to decompose if it is not treated properly? This data should be enough for us all to start sorting out the garbage today.

How to separate garbage at home

You will need to four to five different bags at home, organized according to the container you have to take it to. The exact amount will depend on your city, since not all of these five containers exist.

The brown container is for organic waste, but it is precisely this that is missing in some cities. This group includes food and its waste (for example, a napkin with pieces of food, coffee grounds …).

In case you do not have a brown container in your city, organic waste will go with inorganic waste, usually in a gray container. These inorganic wastes include sanitary products, pet waste, dust, sand …

The green container is for glassBe careful, because glass is not the same as glass. In fact, the glass should go in the inorganic waste. As for glass, they are usually food containers (such as sauces, jams …) and bottles of soft drinks and various drinks.

On the blue container we will throw away the paper and cardboard. They fall into this category from notebooks to magazines, newspapers, cardboard containers, egg cups …

By last, plastic and metal go to yellow container. A plastic bottle is easy to identify, but keep in mind that there are certain things that also fit, such as milk cartons, soda cans, fruit nets, aluminum foil, and cleaning and hygiene cans. Look at the containers, because many of them indicate the container in which they should go.

Finally, all those products not previously categorized (such as batteries, medicines, paint, oil …) must go to a clean point, where they will better take care of their classification, something very important since many of them are very dangerous (for example, electronic devices or large furniture).
