Both aluminum foil and cling film are present in our kitchen. They are the two most used options for storing food in the fridge. But, do you know which one is the most indicated in each case? The totally different properties of the two make each of them more appropriate for one type of product than others.

It is also impervious to odors, gases and bacteria. Although it is strong, it can tear easily, and this makes it sometimes inappropriate.

On the other hand, it is not recommended to freeze food as it tends to stick to them. For this purpose we can use plastic first and then aluminum foil or freezer bags which are also a good alternative.

In fact, aluminum foil is not the only product used in the kitchen that comes into contact with what we eat. Have pans, saucepans, pots… that contain it. In practice, migration from aluminum to food is low and it does not harm health, there are also different regulations that regulate these issues. Regarding this role, remember that you can recycle it together with plastic containers and cans in the yellow container.
The plastic film is somewhat more resistant, and being transparent allows us to see the food we store. The only thing that does not protect from light and odors, at least in the same way as aluminum. Its advantages include that it is moldable and waterproof, and for all this it is the best option to wrap the food that we are going to freeze.
It is recommended in turn to protect cold cuts, fruits or vegetables, mainly or to cover the containers, since it adapts better to them.
Finally, remember that it cannot be used for cooking, with the exception of plastics that are suitable for it and in which it is specified. It is also recycled in the yellow container. Like aluminum foil, it undergoes security controls to be used for food purposes.
